Sheep

"All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way;" Isaiah 53:6

“Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus *said to him, “Tend My sheep." John 21:17

The people of Israel were often referred to as sheep.

Israelites of that time, as opposed to we today, were well aware that this was not a term of endearment, rather, it described the character and group mindset of those to whom the term applied.

It is not a complement.

Sheep are either head strong and obstinate or passive, dumb followers of a head strong and obstinate sheep or whoever will lead them.

To prevent our being wayward and misled we are to know the voice of the One who we chose to lead us and follow him alone.

The sooner we acknowledge our tendency to mimic these characteristics of sheep, the sooner we will accept and follow Yeshua and those he has place in a position to lead us.

"I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (John 10:11)
